Use of Succession Planning in Keeping Kermit character alive |
Nobody expected that Jim Henson, of Muppets fame, would check himself into a New York hospital on Wednesday, May 16, 1990, and die a few hours later of pneumonia. Henson's death would have been the end of Kermit, except that; fortunately, one of Henson's sons was able to approximate the voice and thus keep the Kermit character alive.
Companies can learn from this example to establish and create a effective succession and contingency plan to sustain the Organization. Even with recent medical innovation, a human life is exposed to significant external risks.
