Ana Guevara began her sports success as a basketball player. Although she excelled on the courts, she switched to running at age 19. She has since become one of the world’s best runners of the 400-meter distance and a national hero in Mexico. She won the world championships in that event in 2003 and a silver medal at the Summer Olympics in 2004.
