Kayirebwa is one of only a few Rwandan musicians to gain international prominence. She became interested in the traditional music that she heard around her at a young age. Then, when she began traveling the country as a welfare officer, she came to know the music of other areas as well. After studying in Belgium, she was able to take the traditions of her country, fuse them with a pop sound, and introduce them to the world.
