Choe Sung Hui studied modern dance in Japan, then returned home to help establish a unique form of Korean dance. She took elements of many Korean folk dances and helped create new dances that were performed on stage. She was married to a high-ranking government official, but when he fell from grace, their family disappeared. She was recently honored as a Korean hero by Kim Jong-Il.
