Francescoli was rejected the first time he tried out for a professional soccer team. However, he continued trying, and eventually became one of the best players in the world. He earned the nickname “El Principe” (The Prince) during his years playing for the Argentine team River Plate. He is a hero both in Uruguay as well as in Argentina. During his long career, he scored more than 500 goals. In 2003, he helped create a cable TV station focusing on soccer.
