Bwalya was known as an incredible talent even as a very young player. His talents would take him all over the world, playing for teams in Mexico, Belgium, and the United Arab Emirates. But he always returned home to play for the Zambian side in international competitions. Among his greatest accomplishments are being named Africa’s Footballer of the Year in 1988, scoring three goals in an Olympic match against Italy, and helping the Zambian team recover after 18 of its players died in a plane crash.
