Kye Sun-Hui burst onto the international judo scene in 1996, when she surprised everyone by winning the gold medal for her weight class at the Atlanta Olympic Games. She has since gone on to win two other Olympic medals, multiple world championships, and other international competitions. In North Korea she has been honored as a “Labor Heroine” and elected to the People’s Assembly.
