Soccer is a favorite pastime in Ivory Coast, and many Ivorians look to Pokou as their sporting hero. Although most of his achievements occurred during the late '60s and early '70s, he is still known because he continues to hold several records. Among his records are most goals scored in one African championship game (5) and most goals scored in African championships (14). A tall, elegant center-forward, he now works to establish sports-learning programs for Ivorian children.
