Sibusiso Vilano was born in South Africa but moved to Swaziland when he was three. He has lived since in Swaziland and has dual citizenship. In 2003, he became the first black person from Africa to ever summit Mount Everest. Many people celebrated his accomplishment, but scandal erupted in Swaziland because he planted a South African flag and not a Swazi flag. Vilane has said he requested a flag from the Swazi government but never received one.
