Xuxa (pronounced SHOO-shah) was a teen model who went on to become the host of a long-running Brazilian television show for children. The show featured a variety of performances and visits from stars. She later expanded her entertainment empire to Spanish television programs throughout Latin America and Spain. She also recorded albums (more than 20 million sold) and made 13 movies. Although her programs have not been successful in the United States, she is still one of the richest women in Brazil.
