Cure for: Rasna is an important herb for rheumatism and allied disorders, diseases of the abdomen, dyspepsia, bronchitis and inflammations. The plant contains tannins, saponins (chemical compounds found in natural sources), sterols, fatty oils, resins and coloring matter. All parts of Rasna possess valuable medicinal properties but its leaves are used most commonly as medicine. The leaves are used as a laxative, analgesic and antipyretic.
Rasna leaves poultice can be applied on gouty and joint swellings for reducing pain, rejuvenate the joints and promotes comfortable movement of the joints and muscles. The seeds are also astringent, laxative, anthelmintic (An agent that kills, destroys and expels worms from the intestines), aphrodisiac, alexipharmic and tonic. A decoction of the roots of Rasna is very helpful in treating lumbago and rheumatism and rejuvenates the muscular-skeletal system, maintains healthy metabolism and removes toxins from the system. The roots are also used in dyspepsia, bronchitis rheumatism, and in fever. The roots are also used into the preparation of medicated oils, applied externally in rheumatism and nervous troubles.
