Cure for: It has confirmed by experimental studies that Punarnava has diuretic (elevates the rate of urination) properties. The roots of the plant has anti-convulsant, analgesic, diuretic, laxative and expectorant properties. The leaves are useful in dyspepsia, tumors, abdominal pains, spleen enlargement. The herb is useful in obesity, anemia cases, loss of appetite, jaundice and chronic but non-specific febrile conditions. It is also anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties, which are comparable to that of ibuprofen. Punarnava is also known to possess properties to cure skin and soft tissue infections. It is an effective herb in biliousness, blood impurities, leucorrhoea, asthma, alternatives etc. According to Unani system of medicine, the leaves of Punarnava are appetizer, alexiteric (Protective to infectious diseases) and useful in ophthalmia (Inflammation of the eye), joint pains. Seeds are tonic expectorant, carminative and useful in lumbago, scabies. The seeds are considered as promising blood purifier.
