  1. 2 Cups of Green gram dhal
  2. 1 Cups of Black gram dhal
  3. ¼ tsp Soda
  4. Salt for taste
  5. 1 tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
  6. 2 to 4 Chopped green chilies
  7. 1 inch ginger
  8. 2 to 3 strings of cilantro chopped
  9. 1 to 2 strings of curry leaves chopped


  1. Soak dhal for 5 hours and grind the batter thick and coarsely.
  2. Ferment over night.
  3. Next day morning add soda salt and other ingredients mix well.
  4. Steam the idlies in the pressure cooker.
  5. Serve hot.
