  1. 2 1/2 cups of cassava (discard the very center), chopped
  2. 5 plantains, chopped
  3. Salt to taste 


  1. Boil cassava and plantains until softened (about 20 minutes). Let both cool in the water they were boiled in.
  2. Remove and drain cassava.
  3. Crush cassava in a separate bowl, adding a little water if needed to prevent sticking and to create correct consistency (it should be a smooth paste).
  4. Crush plantains separately, also creating a paste. No extra water should be necessary. Mix the cassava and plantain pastes together, adding water if necessary.
  5. Add salt to taste.
  6. Form into balls and serve with sauce.
